Thesises

University Service has, by far, the most experience in printing theses. As a supplier to the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University and Karolinska Institutet , we help visualizing the works and research conducted at these esteemed institutions, on a daily basis.

There are several decisions to be made when you print your thesis. For example, which paper to use, if you want a colored paper as thumbnail, presentation of images, etc.
The printing process at University Service is very fast and we guarantee to deliver your edition within 5 working days after the pre-print has been approved. Pre-prints are usually delivered within 24 hours.

Original

The original should be handed in as PDF files. The coat and other articles should be placed in separate files. The divider, or ”thumbnail”, with roman numerals between the articles is anther item we can supply you thesis with.

Fonts and images

Images should be delivered in high-resolution of 300 dpi or higher, to guarantee a sharp print. The images should also be correctly embedded in the layout in originals. You are of course free to choose a font that you find attractive but make sure that the font is embedded in the PDF file.

Illustrations and images in color

Color print may often help clarify your illustrations and add to the overall appeal of the paper. We therefore recommend that you always try to apply a few color elements to your thesis.

Page numbering

The standard page numbering system is that uneven pages (1,3,5…) form right hand pages and even numbers produce left hand pages. If you are uncertain of text page layout, it is always easiest to center it.

Cover

We help you produce the cover from start to finish. All we need is the information that you wish to display on the cover along with image you may wish to display. We will also help you choose an attractive paper quality. We offer most kinds of paper, glossy laminate or matt options.

Abstract (Spikblad)

For a thesis, a so called “Spikblad” is always written. This usually contains an abstract of the thesis on one side, and information concerning time, place and date for the disputation on the other - along with the writer’s name. Always print the same number of spikblad as the number of theses.

ISBN

All academic theses must be provided with an ISBN number. This number is available from the administration or library at your institution or at the Royal Library´s ISBN Central ((www.kb.se/isbn/ansokan-avhandlingar/).

Editions

An edition usually varies from 150 to 600 copies, but there are of course larger and smaller editions as well. When calculation how may copies should be printed, it is important to also consider opponents, library and you institution that all demand a certain number of copies along side external interests to whom the thesis should be distributed to.

Mandatory Copies

When printing academic theses, the writer is obligated by law to distribute a copy to each if the country’s university libraries. We provide this service at no extra cost to PHD students who print their thesis with us.
